Web designer in Malaysia: design that starts with search
I design websites with Total Web Solutions for clinics, B2B firms and online stores in Malaysia and Singapore. Here is how I work, and nine real websites you can visit.
Most of the work is for small and medium businesses: clinic and healthcare sites, corporate websites for B2B firms, and e-commerce catalogues. If you are looking for a web designer in Malaysia, this page shows how I work, which platforms I use and when, and the websites behind it.
Design and SEO are never separate jobs for me (how I approach SEO has the search side). These are the six things every project goes through, whatever the industry.
Search comes before the layout
Before choosing a layout, I ask what the business goals are and look at how customers actually search: the services, problems and questions they type into Google. The site structure and page names come from that, so the website does not need rebuilding later to fix its search engine optimisation.
Show why the business can be trusted
Visitors decide quickly whether a business looks credible. Real credentials, registration numbers, reviews, clear prices where possible and honest photos do more than decoration. Each site is a custom web design built around the business, not a bought template, and much of our work is in healthcare, where trust matters most.
One clear path to an enquiry
Good user experience (UX) is mostly about the next step. A booking form, a WhatsApp button or a quote request sits where a visitor who is ready expects to find it, and nowhere it gets in the way. For paid campaigns, each landing page matches what the visitor searched for.
Mobile first, responsive, fast and stable
Most visitors arrive on a phone, so pages are designed for small screens first and the responsive layout adapts upwards. Images are sized properly and the layout does not jump while it loads. This website is built the same way, and you can test its speed yourself.
Design and development, on the right platform
Web design and web development happen together: the same small team plans the pages and builds them. Most of our WordPress websites are for owners who want to update them easily, with WooCommerce for product catalogues and WPML for several languages. For fast, mostly static sites like this one, I use Astro.
Care after launch
Website maintenance does not stop at launch: updates, security, backups and speed checks carry on for years. Most of the sites in the Total Web Solutions portfolio are still hosted and looked after by the team, and I provision and maintain Ubuntu VPS servers myself.
Whichever web designer or web developer you hire, these are worth checking before a new website goes live. I go through the same list on every project.
Every page has its own title and meta description, written for people, not stuffed with keywords.
The responsive layout is tested on real phones, not only in a desktop browser.
Images are compressed and sized, so pages load quickly on mobile data.
Forms, WhatsApp buttons and phone links actually reach the business.
Old page addresses redirect to the new ones, so existing Google rankings are kept.
The sitemap is submitted in Google Search Console, and the site can be crawled.
Schema markup describes the business, its services and its location correctly.
Backups, updates and security monitoring are scheduled before launch day, not after a problem.

The challenge
Several screening packages at different depths, plus a corporate wellness offer aimed at a completely different buyer.
What we did
Two separate journeys: individuals move from a health concern to a package to a booking, while companies get their own corporate wellness path. Packages can be compared at a glance, with a booking form, WhatsApp and medical business schema on a mobile-first WordPress build.
Standing apart from fad-diet advice, and keeping a large library of videos, tools and articles easy to use.
What we did
A content hub with service pages for each condition, nutrition videos, free calculators and a blog, with registered-dietitian credentials and media features made visible. Plus SEO structure and a Google Business Profile.
What the case study records
#1 in Google Maps for “dietitian malaysia” and “malaysia nutritionist” (live check, 2 October 2026), and #4 in ordinary results for “dietitian malaysia” (31 August 2026).
A neighbourhood clinic that has to appear in local searches and make booking easy, usually on a phone.
What we did
A deliberately simple structure with a doctor-led homepage, scannable service cards and a clear price table for the screening packages, plus local SEO headings and metadata.
What the case study records
First-page results for local clinic searches, and around 63 ranking searches with 13 in Google’s top 10.
A wide treatment menu across very different concerns, strong medical credentials to show in a verifiable way, and honest expectations to set.
What we did
Treatments grouped by concern in one menu, practitioner credentials shown throughout, and treatment pages with their own titles and headings for specialised searches, on a premium WordPress build.
More than a thousand ingredients, halal and regulatory credentials, and buyers across the region in several languages. A brochure site could not carry it.
What we did
A working B2B catalogue on WordPress with WooCommerce and WPML, over 1,000 ingredient pages for long-tail searches, compliance-first trust signals and a quote request with a technical chat. I also work with FC Materials on ingredient enquiries.
In a competitive market, the website has to look as good as the work, carry two brands, and match what paid visitors searched for.
What we did
A gallery-led WordPress site with the portfolio filtered by property type, so visitors browse homes like their own. Plus trust details such as registration numbers, landing pages that match ad searches, WhatsApp-first contact and managed hosting for a heavy image library.
A deep technical service list that project managers and QS teams need to scan quickly, in a plain, no-hype voice.
What we did
A menu that reaches eight service areas and five industry sectors in one click, dedicated pages for niche technical terms, and technical articles linked to the matching services.
What the case study records
A dated SEO record: #2 on desktop for “corenet x code of practice”, with the terms not yet in the top results listed openly.
In a trade where trust decides who gets hired, the strongest proof is a record of real, finished projects.
What we did
Website and digital support for a WordPress site built around a filterable portfolio of completed projects, with WhatsApp as the main way to enquire, plus local SEO, Google Business Profile work and managed hosting.
Buyers want the savings but worry about the complexity, so the site has to make going solar feel clear and low-risk.
What we did
Website and digital support for a clean WordPress site with one message and one action: separate residential and commercial sections that lead to a free consultation, search-aware titles, an ongoing SEO retainer and managed hosting.
What people usually ask before working with a web designer in Malaysia.
How much does a website cost in Malaysia?
It depends on the number of pages, features such as booking or a product catalogue, and how much content needs writing. Total Web Solutions publishes its prices, and a free website review is a quick way to see what your site needs.
Are you a freelance web designer?
No. I do my website work through Total Web Solutions, a small team, so a project has more than one person behind it and the site is still looked after once it is live.
Do I need a web designer or a web developer?
Usually both, and on a small team they are often the same people. Design decides what each page says, how it is organised and how it looks. Development builds it so it is fast, secure and easy to update.
Do you build with WordPress or Astro?
Mostly WordPress, because it is easy for a business to update and it handles catalogues and several languages well. For a fast, mostly static site like this one, I use Astro. The choice depends on who will edit the site and what it needs to do.
Can you redesign my website without losing my Google rankings?
Usually, if the move is planned. That means keeping or redirecting every old page address, carrying over the titles and content that already rank, and checking Google Search Console after launch.
Who looks after the website after launch?
Total Web Solutions offers hosting and care plans covering updates, security, backups and speed. Most of the websites in its portfolio are still looked after by the team today.
